Romantic Dinner – Table Setting for Valentine’s Day at Home

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, so many couples would be making dinner reservations to go out and celebrate.  But here we are, year 2021 and so much has changed.  Despite the challenges we face, celebrating love and life should still be a top priority.  Today, I am sharing some inspiration for you to create a romantic dinner setting at home while staying safe for Valentine’s Day.

Tablescape for Two

Table

Let’s start with your table options.  I love creating tablescapes and it was so much fun putting this together.  If you have an extension table (a table that can be extended in length by the insertion of an extension leaf) like I do, remove the extension leaf to create a smaller table for a more intimate setting.  If you’re not able to make your table smaller, consider using a card table or decorate only half of your table so that you can sit closer together.

Table Runner

Instead of a standard table runner, I opted to use a few yards of this gorgeous gray velvet fabric to create this cascading look that puddles on the floor.  I laid it at an angle on the table and I just think it looks so elegant and romantic.  Any type of fabric, velvet, sheer or patterned would look great.  Be creative, use anything you already have on hand such as drapery or window scarves to create this cascading table runner.

Add Fresh Flowers

When you think of Valentine’s day most people think of red and pink roses.  The truth is, you can choose any color or flower.  I used store bought flowers and selected a combination of pink roses, several shades of white roses, peonies, greenery and added a beautiful pearl stem to create these beautiful arrangements.  You can’t go wrong with your floral arrangement!

Decorative touches to dress up your tablescape

The vase that my flowers are in are actually candle holders.  I just converted them into a vase by inserting a clear vase filled with water and voila, you have these gorgeous centerpieces.  Set your table with your placemats, plates, wine glasses, and napkins.  I accented with gray, silver, gold, pearls and rose gold.

Lighting

Last, but not least, lighting!  Set the mood and create the romance!  Play your favorite love songs, dim the lights, light some candles, and tealights.  Now you’ve created a romantic mood for the evening and your tablescape will look stunning with a nice glow.  So will your partner!

Have I inspired you to create a romantic evening at home for Valentine’s Day?  You can also do this for any occasion since we’re spending so much time at home.  It’s a great way to spice things up a bit.  If you have kids, send them to bed early or enjoy a late dinner so that you don’t have any interruptions!  What will be on your menu?  Ordering out and picking up from your favorite restaurant is a great option too!

After – Evening
After – Night Time
